The Most Over-Rated Band of All-Time

While I sit here in my office this Independance Day I want to start by taking the time to support and to say thanks.

To all the troops and their families and friends who are stationed far from home securing our liberties.

To all of those, and their families and friends, who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service of our Nation.

We are constantly bombarded with images of the war, constantly listening to the bickering of both sides.  "We need to support the War...we need to help Iraq" or "Bring our Troops Home".  All of that is irrelevant...please if not everyday at least today be thankful; to those who have chosen to be in our nations military.  We may not support the war, but we ALWAYS have to support the Troops!  Happy 4th America!

Now I know that I am going to catch hell for saying this...some may even call it blasphemy.  I know that I cannot be the only one out there who feels like this...can I?  Now I will start out by saying that this obviously is just my opinion and we all know what they say about opinions.  I also want to temper what I am about to say with this.  I am not disputing the validity of their music, I also am not trying to say that they are not talented.  I am merely questioning whether or not their status in musical history should be held in such high regard.  That being said, I am not trying to discredit them, really I am just saying..."They're alright"

"The Beatles"

There...I said it.  The Beatles are the most OVER-RATED band of all-time. Elvis, Chuck Barry, Black Sabbath all have done more for and meant more to music.  The Beatles arrived on the scene at the right time...they were far from innovators, more a beneficiary of good timing.  Now again...in an effort to avoid confusion, (and being drawn and quartered by the mob) I am not saying that they aren't good.  Brett Farve is good...was he over-rated?  Some would say the 288 interceptions mean yes...just please don't ask John Madden. Joe Montana was over-rated...Jerry Rice (turning 5 yard slants into 60 yard TD's), John Taylor, Dwight Clark, Roger Craig, and of course the late great Bill Walsh made him great.   Greatness, like most things in life, is subjective and subject to debate.  Just please don't confuse greatness with "they're alright".
